Russia is going to supply the super-fast commutation equipment and other facilities at overall cost of more than 100 mln. euros to the ITER project, which is now under construction in the Cadarache, France, Rusatom reports. The ITER reactor is being created in cooperation of EU, Switzerland, China, India, South Korea, Russia and USA. It will be the first full-scale attempt of using thermonuclear reaction (like the one that occurs in the Sun, where two hydrogen atom nuclei merge) in order to generate electric power. If successful, it will provide the humankind with a new inexhaustible source of energy. «This agreement on commutation equipment is the biggest one in terms of cost among all the supplies contracted with Russia so far. Its cost exceeds 100,000,000€. Production of this equipment for ITER is planned up to 2017.», — Rusatom report says.
The prototype of an electric locomotive with nonsynchronous propulsion engine «Granite» (series 2ES10) produced by the joint Russian-German company “Ural locomotives” (Verkhnyaya Pyshma, Sverdlovsk region) went on trial in the All-Russian Research Institute of Railway Transport (ARIoRT, t. Sherbinka, Moscow region). This was preceded by commissioning and factory acceptance tests, where the following issues were tested: correctness of the equipment placement and load distribution on each axle of the locomotive, operability of all electric locomotive systems including the components supplied by “Siemens”. Electric locomotive «Granite» has already passed some preliminary tests of the locomotive depot «Yekaterinburg-marshalling» and successfully completed the test drive on the Sverdlovsk railway.

The second prototype of the fifth-generation fighter T-50 (PAK-FA), produced at the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aircraft Production Enterprise n.a. Gagarin (Sukhoi KnAAPO) successfully completed its first flight on Thursday, RIA Novosti reports. «The aircraft took off from the airfield at the KnAAPO; flight lasted for about an hour. The plane was piloted by the honored and experienced test pilot — Sergei Bogdan. The flight went successfully.»- the agency source said. The Russian fifth-generation fighter has been in development since the 1990's. This is a fifth-generation heavy class fighter with a takeoff weight of more than 30 tons, medium-scaled (roughly corresponding to the Su-27), a monoplane with widely spaced engines and two keels strongly deflected outward from the longitudinal axis. Appearance of the airframe was designed using the stealth technology.
The total area of this modern exhibition complex (Yekaterinburg EXPO), which will appear next to the highway connecting the city Yekaterinburg with airport Kol’tsovo, will exceed 90 thousand square meters. The complex will also include a convention center with a concert hall. According to the plan, its construction will be completed by the end of 2011. Moreover, the «front» entrance of the complex for transport is been constructed at present. According to schedule, offshoot of Kol'tsov tract will be built by May. Today, the only exhibition center in Russia complying to the international standards is «Crocus EXPO» in Moscow. The Sverdlovsk region authorities expect «Yekaterinburg Expo» to change this situation.

Ulyanovsk aviation plant AVIASTAR-SP together with «Tupolev» are preparing for the serial production program of Tu-204SM aircraft until 2016, reported Itar-Tass, citing the press service of AVIASTAR, on the basis of which, a meeting was held with management of other firms as well as suppliers of aviation equipment. The meeting focused on the test results of the latest Tu-204SM and its equipment. Currently it performed 7 flights of the first sample, the results of which had produced a list of improvements in systems of the aircraft.
